America Road trip with St Scooby Doo Day 4

Here we go 4th day of the road trip in St. Scooby Doo

Mass-Holes on the loose travelling south - comfortable.. not easy for me to drive on what I class as the wrong side of the road but coped ok,, What happens in the truck stays in the truck,,, and there were a few happenings from US both i will say.

So I got in the seat first and started driving through North Carolina heading for wherever....

Lorries with fat noses are quite scary and the drivers are speedy and overtake you if you don't keep up with the speed limit which never went above 70 miles per hour.. Like the fact that U.S. are not in kilometeres as I'm not quite up with them.

Pulled in for breakfast at Hoopers.

Where I couldnt wait to have a cafe style american fry up.. little crunchy roasters seem to be the norm coupled with 2 eggs over easy and bacon (which again the norm) is crunchy -side bacon.  Getting back into the coffee thing and my staple drink of tea takes a back seat.
Pen in the seat now driving and we are passing Cherokee county.
Apologies for the road shots as taken through the windscreen and Pen tells me her truck not been washed since she bought it.. so I am blaming her for the crappy shots. hee hee

first of many of the crappy shots so if you dont like em (which is understandable due to insect windscreenkill - skip on)
Hiya Bill, yes I am taking lots of shots, majority of which get deleted due to not being great on the D90
Good name for a funeral home.. There are so many churches and good range in North Carolina.
NO... can you believe it..  Pen won't go back for me to shoot the Cherokee Tribal Bingo Sign and also the sign outside the church that read.. Because he arose, we are closed... BAH!

Great news,, nice Pen returned for me to shoot these derelict cars as we sped by as she felt guilty for not stopping earlier.. yay......

Being used to just getting my camera out and shooting without asking,, thought I would be polite and ask if could take some..
hmmmmm... don't think they understook me.. took that as a yes

Having looked on Nathan's lumpy mountain map we had decided to go through the mountains and not over the top ,,, still we are getting quite elevated in parts but thankfully up and then down....

Purchased a map of the south which is good for Pen as she is very good at reading it, however as she found out,, I am crap at map reading ... saving grace the lady in the box who was not a cy lady at this stage of the journey.  Found that Tara had left a very good map book in the truck and mental note to buy her another (which never happened and by the time we left, her book had missing pages crumpled corners with the odd spot of coffee)... so apologies Tara if you ever read this and  we owe you another!

Black Keys in the CD Player,, great music for the road

Into the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains
1 black bear for every square mile,, loads of bears and still no sighting

Macon County - Nantahla Lake - utterly beautiful

75 miles clocked in so far

its gettting very hot

at 2.15pm we crossed the Tenessee state line and now headed for Chattanaooga 125 miles
Did not particularly like the suburbs - we stopped at a gas station - cars with big spiky spoke wheels, very loud music playing from open car windows, lots of hollerin.. we is out of here now......

7.00pom crashed Alabama state line and heading for a resting stop for the night and we picked Huntsville LAQuinta Hotel. 80 dollars 103 miles
First large strip mall encountered.... over the road to TGI fridays for dinner and a beerage or 2
Total mileage 303 miles - shared driving
