Names

Odd Names in the fore this week.

Last night at the pub a lady mentioned that a family in Derbyshire had named their little girl 'Chlamydia' deadly serious ....no joke. perhaps she has a brother called Syphilis  .... poor little girl.  They apparently liked the name but obviously didnt know the meaning.

My mothers cousin's offspring has named their new boy 'Montague Odysseus'   that is cruel.. what a flipping mouthful.

We were discussing the name Judas on the way home from leicester today,, do people name a child Judas?   Definately Jude (we have one in the family) which is a variant of the name Judas.  According to thinkbaby names, Judas is not a popular first name for men and an equally uncommon surname or last name for all people ... hmmmmm... I remember a boy in my class at school called 'Adolf'  and even at 11 years of age thinking his name was a tad strange.

Perhaps the goverment should police names instead of lunchboxes? definately in the case of Chlamydia!

following my sorry letter and explaination from Jill via Deborah

Dear Jill,

After finding the page in question, re-reading the cat exit and digging a big hole for me to drop into.. apologies for questioning Deborah and her written word
Cheers for the reply

Subject: RE: Question on Tabitha F.A.O. Deborah,

Date: Thu, 10 Nov 2011 11:13:00 -0700

Dear Kathy,
This is Jill, Deborah's assistant. She is away from her email at the moment but she's asked me to respond to your note.

I also worried about Tabitha but we don't have to--Deborah has taken care of her as well! On the very last page of the last chapter (p. 579), Tabitha is in her cat carrier in the RV, ready to head out with Sarah and Em and their friends. So Matthew and Diana looked after her for a bit, but within a very short time after Matthew and Diana left the Bishop house, Sarah and Em returned to pack up and took Tabitha with them.

Whew!

Sincerely,
Jill Hough

Deborah Harkness Discovery of Witches

Just read Deborah Harkness 'Discover of Witches'  fantastic read and I raced throught it.  Simply unputdownable... you dont want to do anything else but sit and read.. devour the words and live for hours in the book.  The storyline is rich and colourful, Characters are fanciful but still believable, descriptions of places and buildings you are living them.. do i want to know more about Ashmole 782
YES I DO.
however, there was just a little line about 'feeding Tabitha' that was not explained and it was annoying so I decided to write to the author and hopefully an answer will follow.
Hi Deborah,
Really loved your book and killed it over a couple of days.. so unputadownable
Just a quick question, I am puzzled over who was supposed to feed Tabitha when everyone left. Why was Em and Sarah concerned enough to ask them to remember to feed the cat before they went? silly you may say but it was the only thing in the book that was left in the air.

Anyway I loved your book and eagerly awaiting the sequal.

Roll in the hay for Archers addicts

Mum and I went to see 'Roll in the Hay' at Barrow Upon Soar on its travels through thek.

A celebration of the countryside through music and words. After several sell out shows with the author Louis de Bernieres, The Antonius Players return to the Fringe, this time with the actress Sunny Ormonde, better known as the outrageous Lillian Bellamy in Radio 4's hit show The Archers. Join them in this countryside romp and extravaganza of sizzling song, foot-tapping music, words, wit, stories, poems plus anecdotes from the world's longest running radio soap which celebrates its 60th birthday this year! A light-hearted take on all things rural.

Brilliant show with a very well put together variety mix.
